This week, students will determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in an essay, including figurative language. Students will be introduced to the content vocabulary that will be covered in the second portion of Workshop #2. They will read various texts that is geared around the theme of "Identity". They will also analyze how an author uses figurative language to engage a reader. Students will then apply figurative language such as similes, metaphors, and personification within their writing. Furthermore, students will continue to analyze how an author uses literary elements to develop a story.
